As one door closes, another one opens
Restaurant Mark Greenaway calls time, with a new venture in the pipeline
Multi award-winning Restaurant Mark Greenaway, which recently celebrated its fifth birthday, is set to close this summer as owners Mark Greenaway and Nicola Jack start work on a dynamic new project in the Capital.
Chef Greenaway announced today (30 August 2018) that the Edinburgh North Castle Street restaurant will close at the end of September, followed by the launch of a brand-new venue later this year, or early 2019.
Mark commented: “It’s time for a new challenge, and so we are in the process of developing a completely new concept. Though we will be using the same team and suppliers that have contributed so much to the success of Restaurant Mark Greenaway, the new venture will feel completely different. Our intention is to boldly challenge the concept of fine dining in the heart of Edinburgh.
“When we celebrated our 5th birthday this past January, it set us thinking about the future and what we really wanted to achieve. Winding up this chapter is our first step towards those ambitions. Naturally we are sad to be closing the North Castle Street site, but at the same time Nicola, myself and the rest of the team are all very much looking forward to the future.”
In the meantime, it will be business as usual at Restaurant Mark Greenaway until 22 September, with a final nostalgic flourish. During the restaurant’s final month Chef Greenaway and his team will be serving up some of the classic dishes that have become customers’ favourites over the last five years, and which earned the restaurant its formidable reputation as one of Edinburgh’s leading eateries, as well as three AA rosettes for culinary excellence, and a host of awards and accolades.
Mark and Nicola plan to keep details of their new venture under wraps for now, to focus on appreciating everyone who has been a part of their journey so far. Mark said: “We wish to heartily thank our amazing team, those that have advised us or collaborated with us along the way, our landlords for allowing us to establish our reputation and grow in their space, and of course our wonderful customers, many of which have been loyal to us for the five years we have been open. Business, and particularly the restaurant business, moves quickly, and we are hugely excited to reveal what’s coming next.”

Any gift vouchers that have been purchased will be valid at the new venue or can be used at Restaurant Mark Greenaway before closing. If neither option suits, a full refund can be given by contacting the restaurant.
